– In Flesh & Flight –
Edward Knippers’ new works exploring transcendence
On April 18th, 2005 Edward Knippers’ wife died of cancer. In the years following his loss the artist has been investigating his personal vision of transcendence. He has explored two primary veins of thought; the continuation of his Biblical narratives, and the world of the Circus, which he sees as “our human, tawdry attempt at transcendence and transformation.”
These two veins of investigation form the exhibition, In Flesh and Flight: Edward Knippers’ New Works Exploring Transcendence.
Opening reception with Edward Knippers:
December 4th, 2010 (7-11pm)
hosted by
studio of the arts (sota) “gallery and working studio”
49 Spa Rd. Annapolis, MD 21401
*parking across the street at The Westin Annapolis Hotel
“…spend an hour with these [paintings]…and you will be moved by Knippers’ astute vision, which is always grand…and an exaltation entirely his own…[T]he viewer…will find sharing Knippers’ grand passion to be memorable.”
Mark Power, The Washington Post
Review of “Memento Mori” at the Arlington Arts Center
